SCUSD and Santa Clara HS want to work with families to keep our students safe from the H1N1 virus, also known as Swine Flu. State Superintendent O'Connell visits SCHS
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell visited SCHS on Wednesday, 9/30/09, while in town from Sacramento. During his time, he visited a CAHSEE Math Prep class, a CISCO computer class, and senior AVID class, in which he participated in a lively discussion of the merits of the CAHSEE test with AVID students.

Student vs. Teacher Volleyball
SCHS students took on their teachers in a lunchtime volleyball match. The closely contested match was watched by about 400 students. In the end, the teachers squeaked out a 26-24 win. Thanks to all who played.
AED Project Salutes Heroes and Survivors
Rescuers and survivors in cases of sudden cardiac arrest were honored at the Santa Clara / Wilcox football game on Friday. Guests included firefighters, police officers, survivors, rescuers and their families. The event was part of an ongoing joint effort between Wilcox, Santa Clara, and the community to raise $84,000 to put an Automatic External Defribulator (AED) in every SCUSD school.

Renaissance Rally Celebrates Academics
The fall Renaissance Rally honored students who achieved good GPA's during the 08-09 spring semester, as well as those who made significant improvement to their GPA. The rally featured performances by Raza Azteca, That Breaking Club, Tahitian Club, the SCHS Cheerleaders, and our teacher rock band Pandemic Staff Infection. Congrats to all honorees and thank you to the performers.
SCHS Halloween
SCHS enjoyed Halloween a day early this year, but we continued with our lunchtime costume contest. Prizes were given out to the scariest, funniest, most creative, and best group outfits. Thanks to all who made the day a fun one.
Homecoming 2009
The Homecoming Week has concluded. Congratulations to the whole Homecoming Court, particularly Queen Laura Moreno and King Jacob Davis. The Senior class won the overall competition, taking #1 in floats, rally poster, and spirit stick. Juniors placed first in hall decorating and video skit. The Sophomore and Freshman class ended in a tie for 3rd place. Most importantly, many, many of our students, parents, teachers, and alumni took part in our fun activities and watched an exciting football game.
Students Win Trivia Smackdown
The 2nd annual SCHS Student vs Teacher Trivia Smackdown was won by the students, evening the score after the teachers win last year. The event is hosted by the Student/Staff Camaraderie Focus Group and features students answering academic questions while teachers answer current pop culture questions.
